Micro E-Mini Futures. Launching May 6th.

An expanded offering, a smaller-sized contract.

The CME Group just recently announced their plans to launch Micro E-Mini Futures contracts.

Micro E-Mini futures fit seamlessly within our current product suite and give all traders a simple way to access the equity index futures markets. At 1/10th the size of a classic E-Mini contract, Micro E-minis require less cash to enter the market with lower margins.

We plan to offer trading on the Micro E-Mini futures within the same week that trading initially launches (May 6th), including on the all-new Firetip X trading platform. We believe that offering Micro E-Mini futures will provide our customers with a new tool to hedge their equity or options exposure, while providing market access to those who haven’t been able to meet the margin requirements for some of the larger equity futures contracts.

Four leading indices, for benchmark equity exposure

-S&P 500

-Nasdaq-100

-Russell 2000

-Dow Jones Industrial Average

Trade a slice of the most liquid equity index futures

Emini S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000 and Dow ($5) futures are among the most liquid, actively traded equity index contracts available. Micro E-Mini futures provide the same benefits of E-Mini futures, in a smaller-sized contract.

Precisely scale index exposure up or down.

Add more granularity to your trading and risk-management strategies by using Micro E-Mini futures to fine-tune your index exposure.

Versatility to manage positions

Because Micro E-Mini futures are fully fungible with classed E-Mini contracts, you have more flexibility for managing positions as market conditions change, using the contract that best suits your goals. You also have greater access to the liquidity you need.

Thanks for the update. If the exchange offers very low fees, costs and other overheads only then small traders would be attracted if not it may fade many other micro assets. Hope there can be a competitive cost structure in level of eMinis to make it work.
